The College of Business at Wilmington University offers an undergraduate certificate, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and a graduate certificate in human resource management.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management provides students with an overview of key human resource concepts, such as human resource planning, training and development, and employee and labor relations. The program requires the completion of 15 credits. The core courses include Human Resource Management and Legal Aspects of Human Resource Management. Students then complete nine credits of elective courses in human resource management.


The Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management provides students training in human resource planning, compensation and benefits, staffing, training and development, and employee and labor relations. The curriculum is aligned with the guidelines established by the Society of Human Resource Management. The program requires the completion of a total of 120 credits. The human resources management core courses include Business Ethics, Organizational Development, Staffing Organizations, Human Resource Management, Strategic Human Capital Management, International Human Resource Management, Legal Aspects of Human Resource Management, and Compensation Administration. Students also complete experiential learning and internship components.

The Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management provides students with an advanced understanding of business administration and human resource management. Students gain the necessary competencies to pursue leadership degrees in various types of business settings. A total of 36 credits are needed to complete the program. The human resources courses include: Managerial Accounting, Organizational Behavior and Ethical Leadership, Introduction to Data Analytics, Economic and Financial Environment of Business, Financial Management, Business Strategy, Global Marketing Management, Training and Development, International Human Resources, Compensation and Benefits, Seminar in Human Resource Management, and Law, Regulation and the Workplace.

The Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management provides an overview of human resource management to complement graduate degrees in related areas. At least 15 credits are needed to complete the program. The required courses include Compensation and Benefits, International Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, Law, Regulation and the Workplace, and Seminar in Human Resource Management.

Federal Work-Study

The Federal Work-Study Program is a federally based program available to students who show a significant financial need. Eligible students are able to work part-time either on or off-campus to help pay for their college education. Students must be enrolled at least half time and they are able to work up to 20 hours a week while classes are in session. The pay varies by each unique situation, but students make at least the current federal minimum wage.
