The University of Houston Clear Lake offers a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management that is available both online and on campus. The program is designed to provide expertise in management, global markets and the human capital of an organization. About University of Houston – Clear Lake

In 1971, the Texas legislature authorized the establishment of a second University of Houston campus. Using a 1968 report by the Coordinating Board of the Texas College and University System as proof the new campus was necessary. In 1973, Clear Lake was chosen as the location for the new campus. The school opened in 1974 with 1,069 students at an off-site location as construction was still underway for the new campus.

In 2009, another campus was added to the University of Houston when the Pearland Campus opened. The Clear Lake campus continued to expand, adding freshmen and sophomore courses to their upper-level programs. Degrees continued to be added and today the school offers more than 40 fields of studies at the bachelor, master and doctorate level.

University of Houston Clear Lake has developed a reputation as a student-centered, community-minded university with strong local, regional and national connections. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching chose the University as one of 119 in the country for its 2008 Community Engagement Classification. The school has also received the President’s Higher Education Community Honor Roll designation five times.

University of Houston Clear Lake Accreditation Details

University of Houston Clear Lake is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Regional accreditation indicates that the school provides students with the highest quality education based on criteria determined by the Association. In order to confirm that the school continues to provide outstanding education, they agree to periodic reviews by the Association and to address any areas that are identified as needing improvement. University of Houston Clear Lake Application Requirements

Applicants must complete the ApplyTexas application and pay an application fee. Official transcripts must be provided along with official SAT or ACT scores. Applicants should be in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Those who are not must have a minimum score of at least 1030 on the SAT or 20 on the ACT. An essay or personal statement that describes the applicant’s education and career goals along with two letters of recommendation.

Transfer students must complete the ApplyTexas application and pay the application fee. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Students who have earned 11 credits or left must meet the same criteria as students who have not earned college credit beyond high school graduation. Students who have earned 12 to 29 credits must have a GPA of 2.75 while those with between 30 and 44 credits must have a GPA of 2.25. Students with 45 or more credits must have a GPA of 2.0.

Graduate applicants must complete the ApplyTexas application. Applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in the last 60 hours of coursework. They must provide official GMAT or GRE scores. Graduate applicants must also hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must also provide three letters of recommendation, a current resume and a statement of career goals.

University of Houston Clear Lake Tuition & Financial Aid

Undergraduate tuition for residents is $1,107 per credit hour for residents and $2,765 per credit hour for non-residents. Graduate tuition is $2,294 per credit hour for both residents and non-residents.

Financial aid is available although students are expected to cover some of the cost of the education based on information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Two out of three students at the University of Houston Clear Lake receive some type of assistance to attend college. Students may receive scholarships or grants, some of which may be based on merit rather than need. For this reason, all students are asked to complete the FAFSA and renew it each year, regardless of income. Federal work-study programs, as well as graduate assistantships or fellowships, may be offered to on-campus students to offset the cost of attendance. Financial aid packets may also include loans which must be repaid after graduation. It is recommended that the FAFSA be completed by October 1 of each year in order to become eligible for as much need-based assistance as possible.
