Prospective students who want to enroll in programs at Granite State College will choose the Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Administration. The main topics studied in the program include leadership, human resources & the law, human resources & organizational development, and legal & ethical issues in business management.

Students must complete a total of 120 credits to earn their bachelor’s degree, as well as earn a 2.0 GPA to graduate. Students will take several courses in general education in areas like history, Egnlish, and sociology, as well as courses for the major in areas like math, business, and management. Some of the courses required include Leadership, Managing Conflict, and Organizational Behavior.

Other classes include Psychology of Occupational Stress, Workplace Coaching, and Strategic Data Analysis. Students must achieve a minimum grade of C on all courses taken for the major. Students can transfer with previously-earned credits from other institutions of higher learning, but at least 16 credit hours in human resources classes must be earned at Granite State College.


Students will learn about personnel recruitment, general management, and employee retention in modern business, as well as about the changing landscape of diversity and conflict resolution. At the conclusion of their degree program, students will become competent in the fundamentals of management in human resources, as well as be able to speak about key concepts used in organizational development.

Graduates of the program will also be able to analyze how information and evidence can be used to make decisions, as well as consider ethics and legal standards for modern practices in human resources.

Students who already have an associate’s degree can consider the Transfer Pathway program, which allows students to earn an associate’s degree elsewhere and then finish their bachelor’s degree at Granite State College. In the associate’s degree program, students must take classes equivalent to the university’s Organizational Behavior, Statistics, and Principles of Management courses.

Students can choose to enroll fully online for their human resources classes, but some classes are also hosted on campus. The program is very transfer-friendly, and the college indicates that about 80 percent of its students come to study at the institution with previously-earned credits. Students can also benefit from the career counseling offered to graduates after they finish their degree.

About Granite State College

Granite State College was founded in 1972 and is located in Concord, New Hampshire. It’s part of the University System of New Hampshire, and there are six suburban locations available for students to attend, as well as the option to enroll in online classes. Some of the campuses the college operates are in Nashua, Manchester, Lebanon, Rochester, and Portsmouth. The college maintains transfer-friendly partnerships with other colleges in New Hampshire.

The college was awarded that place based on its bachelor’s degrees and its graduate business degrees. An official report published by the U.S. Department of Education ranked the college as the least expensive four-year school in New England. The report was published in 2014.

Granite State College Accreditation Details

Accreditation for Granite State College comes from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Accreditation allows the college to award degrees at the graduate level, as well as associate and bachelor’s degrees for undergraduate students. In addition to institutional accreditation, the college has also secured programmatic accreditation for several of its programs from organizations like the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Additional approvals have been granted by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs. The college also participates in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements for distance education programs, as well as partners with the Community College of the Air Force as an official General Education Mobile Program school.

Granite State College Application Requirements

Prospective students who want to apply to Granite State College will need to submit a high school diploma, the equivalent degree for home school study, or evidence of having earned a GED. Applicants who have already earned college credit may apply for transfer credits and must submit official transcripts for each institution attended. The college offers free online applications and also provides admissions advisors to help with the application process.

To qualify for the university’s graduate programs, students must have earned a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 for the final 60 credit hours attempted. To apply, students must submit transcripts from all previous colleges, as well as provide a personal statement of 500 to 1,000 words. The application also requires two academic or professional references and a current resume. Applicants aren’t required to take the GRE or GMAT.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students who are residents of New Hampshire will pay $314 per credit for undergraduate classes, $538 for graduate classes, and $314 for post-baccalaureate programs. Independent learning contract rates are $314 per credit, and non-credit programs and enrollment tuition varies. Meanwhile, non-residents will pay $365 per credit for graduate classes, $590 for graduate classes, and $365 for post-baccalaureate programs.

There are also some fees students may need to pay like a registration fee of $40 each term, an academic services fee of $45, and a field-based mentoring fee of $250. Students no longer have to pay an undergraduate or graduate referral fee. Prior learning assessment fees are $350, and transcripts are $3 for electronic transmission and $6 for paper copies.

Students can apply for federal student loan aid through the federal government and its FAFSA form and must maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout their college career to maintain and continue disbursements. The college offers eligible students work-study awards, and aid may also include grants or scholarships. A handful of grants available to students that are based on merit or need include the Dollars for Scholars Program and the Osher Reentry Scholarship Endowment program.

Students may also apply for the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation scholarship or the Early Childhood Tuition Assistance Grant. Additionally, students can qualify for the Tuition Waiver for Foster Children program or the Senior Tuition Waiver program. Granite State College also participates in the National Guard Waiver program.
